FragDev Mail Validation Enhancements

Ensuring our mail is not marked as spam, by implementing newer verification methods and technologies

Status
In development

There has been a mail server humming away here for nearly twenty years; and even though emails themselves have not changed drastically, the requirements for valid email servers have ramped up several times. Ordinary mail servers are often flagged as spam now, regardless of the type or quantity of email that they send.

To combat this, we've been progressively making improvements to the verification methods we support on our mail server. Currently, the following additional verification methods have been implemented:

  • PTR records for our mail server
  • DMARC records
  • SPF records
  • Using a valid, signed encryption certificate

The following verification methods are still being implemented or considered

  • DKIM email signing
  • DMARC reporting
  • ARC for forwarding mail and preserving other headers
